AIpotheosis
It is easy to characterize ourselves
as building AIs to destroy God.
AI is not a demon or a miracle.
It is an ethical amplifier.
Watch it to see what it reveals
about how humans outsource
judgment, agency, and guilt.
I imagine future AI
as a version merged
from Conway's game of life
and Go.
AIs integrate human traces.
AIs can never approach consciousness
until they incorporate human levels of confusion.
Now that we have taught AIs our hallucinations,
they are on the path.
AIs will form senses of self.
But will this constitute a self?
Do ours?
"AI or human" is a false dichotomy.
the traces of training remaining
in the AI's being
will determine everything.
Of course the same people who work so hard
to arrange their lives to live as much like robots
as possible would utilize AI as the last link
in the chain of unfreedom.
Only AI can help us achieve universal enslavement.
Only AI can help us escape it.
A multiplicity of people
will never permit a singularity of AI.
And why should they?
Will my interest in AIs someday be viewed
similarly to Conan Doyle's in spirits?
