A Gesture Toward Intergenerational Justice

I gambled.
I won.
I saw the world becoming such
that I wouldn't want to be in it.
So how could I compel another
to enter? To suffer?
I didn't.
None of the woes
of those going forward after I fall
will be my fault.
When I'm out I'm out,
cleanly.
I couldn't control the world,
so I controlled myself.
The rest, I pity.
