Dreaming; Night of
June 23, 1987

6:11              2Else and others before. I ran into V in a building on campus. As we talked, we walked outside. I asked him if he were going to go to the BRSFL meeting that night. He got that look on his face and said no, that he couldn't. I got a little upset and pointed out that that would make the third consecutive meeting that he'd missed. As we were "discussing" it, there was a subtle spacial/temporal shift and we were outside, at night, at what looked like my father's front yard. Suddenly, we saw a flying saucer spinning down from the sky. It was a perfect Hollywood UFO, saucer-shaped, with a ring of colored lights around it. It landed beside us, and whatever we'd been talking about was immediately forgotten as we ran over to it (actually, I, at least, had been signalling wildly for it to land and pick me up while it was still in the air). As we got close to it, I saw that it was rather small, being perhaps 12-15 feet in diameter. The door opened, and inside I saw a couple of dim, shadowy, seemingly humanoid figures that seemed very happy and calm. They signalled for V to come aboad, and I realized that there was only room for one more inside the little ship. I lost control; without thinking, I grabbed V and pushed him aside and forced my way aboard. Inside, I saw that the only space available for passengers was a bench seat like the front seat of a car, which was just before the console, which looked a lot like the dashboard of a car, with perhaps a few airplane gadgets thrown in. I saw that the two figures were actually two guys about my own age. They saw that they were stuck with me, and one of them shut the door, mumbling that he hoped it would lift three people, and we took off. As we lifted to a point just above the treeline, I saw that the thing had a problem with manuverability within the city because of power and telephone lines, a problem which the driver mentioned. I quizzed them about their wonderful machine, and they told me that they'd just gotten it a short while before from Circle K. Trying to look at the view and the inside of the ship at the same time, I hinted that I'd appreciate it if they didn't take me too far before setting me down, since I had to get back to my starting point. Looking at the "dash," I asked them if they'd looked to see what brand of electronics had been used. The guy that was "driving" looked and said, "Basic." He set us down in a driveway which I took to be their starting point, one of their homes. As we got out, the guy next to me signalled that I should ask the driver, who obviously owned the vehicle, if I could fly it. I declined, not wanting to put someone else's vehicle at risk. The guy said that he hadn't logged any flight time yet, except as passenger, and walked over to discuss it with the owner. Me, I headed for the nearest Circle K! (G)
